Yeah, the titles themselves could use some work.
Remember that you can pick any title to wear that you've earned, which is a plus. If they were to be redone, this is probably what I would prefer for all 10 titles:
- Wanderer's Kin
- House of the Traveler
- Steward's Bloodline
- Protector's Progeny
- Champion's Heir
- Chosen Lineage
- Acendant's Antecessor
- Legacy of the Hero
- Legendary Successor
- Descended from Greatness

Well basically we've established 2 separate complaints with the titles.
And yeah, one of them is simply that they are not cool or cheesy enough. This is completely subjective, but a good number of posters seem to agree. Keep in mind that some of these titles require years of title grinding and material accumulation. The sheer amount of content you need to beat and expensive stuff you need to buy is overwhelming. Champion of the Gods is not a bad title - don't get me wrong, but when you compare it with the work it requires it's just meh.
The other complaint is that the labels of these titles describe your new character's (not GW2-earned) awesomeness to a great extent. Some of us fear that this will either overshadow some of the GW2 titles, or simply set the baseline too high. In order to work this out, it has been suggested that the GW1-inherited titles could have a glory-from-the-old-days theme. (See Skye Marin's post above mine.)

Completely agreed on this one. Does anyone else think it'd be funny if CotG contributed to maxing titles for GW3?

I don't know if anybody else would agree but i think a half switch of the last two would be awesome. Like 45 points would be Champion of the Mists and 50 Points would be "A Legend (Amongst) The Gods"

What i don't like in this is that you can have 50/50 by being terrible PvPer ( since they considered zaishen was a pvp title .. ) . They should just have added something more for people who dared to do those titles ( not considering sync , it's not as easy to do champion 3 than doing r10 sunspear seriously... )

GWAMM takes more effort to get than 50/50 in my opinion.

True, it just costs some money now if you are bad at pvp. (to be honest I am bad in pvp)

And why is it ok to let people be terrible at PvE but it's not when it comes to PvP? Pretty much every title can be bought or obtained in cheap ways.

I think that really depends by how good your funding is. While GWAMM takes more patience and effort, 50 points require a lot of stuff that only money can buy. It is true however that if you already acquired GWAMM you will probably have enough funds to buy everything that is needed for maxing your HoM points if you've been (just a little bit) careful with your spending.

I'm guessing that in GW2 you will only be able to display the highest HoM title you have, like in GW1.
eg. if you have "Champion of the Gods", you can't choose to show "Legend of the Mists" etc. Which will be a shame.
It would be nice to display any of the titles up to the highest one you have, if you happen to like them better.
I deliberately stopped progress on my lucky/unlucky titles for this reason - because wearing "lucky" and "unlucky" amuse me more than the subsequent ones eg. "favoured", "prosperous" etc, and I wanted to keep them.

I'm pretty sure one of the Anet guys has already confirmed you can display titles UP TO your max unlocked title, not just the top title.

It does. When it comes to Account-wide titles, some of them require just a certain rank to be added to the HoM, but ALL of them require to be maxed to count for GWAMM.
And it definitely takes more time to max an account wide title than getting 3 oppressor weapons.

Here's why it's a bad title:
When I load up GW2 for the first time and create my first character, Dovewing Ashwalker, an Ash Legion Charr, and discover my inherited ancestor's Hall of Monuments, it's going to load me up as "Champion of the Gods" -- the gods that I don't believe in.
This is what, in my opinion, makes 50/50 terrible. If I create anything but a human, it's completely not applicable. 80% of my options make my most prestigious title clash with the lore of the entire world.
I'll get 50/50, and I'll wear it, because of the sense of accomplishment. But I do hope they reconsider what to call the last level.
Someone earlier suggested "Blood of the Ancient Hero" or something along those lines. I thought of "Child of Legends" or for those who enjoy the lulz, "As a Boy I Spent Much Time in These Lands".

How is any title related to your achievements as a human in Guild Wars going to be applicable to your new Charr character in Guild Wars 2?
